If you’re spending the holidays in The Woodlands, Texas, you’re in for a true treat. Our beautiful community transforms into a festive wonderland filled with sparkling lights, family-friendly events, incredible shopping, and that cozy hometown charm we all love. Whether you’re new to the area or have lived here for years, there are so many seasonal experiences waiting for you.
As a local Woodlands Realtor and family who has lived here since 2016, we love sharing the best spots to make your holidays memorable. Here are some of our favorite places to enjoy, shop, and celebrate this season!
🎄 1. The Grogan’s Mill Farmers Market
There is nothing like starting your weekend at the Grogan’s Mill Farmers Market. Open every Saturday morning, this local gem features fresh produce, artisan breads, handmade goods, local honey, candles, coffee, and more.
It’s a perfect stop for grabbing hostess gifts, seasonal treats, or stocking up on locally made items for holiday cooking. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and full of The Woodlands community spirit.
Local Tip: Bring the kids! Vendors often have samples, and there’s plenty of room to walk around and enjoy the morning. We love the live music and the kiddos. Our favorite vendors are Marchese’s Italian sausage and Whitmans Honey. We can’t leave without a visit to grab some caramel popcorn. Don’t forget to pop in to the library to rerun your library books!
✨ 2. Lights Along The Waterway & Town Green Park
One of the most magical sights each year is the stunning illumination along The Woodlands Waterway. The trees sparkle, the bridges glow, and reflections dance on the water, making it a peaceful place for a nighttime stroll.
Just next door, Town Green Park also transforms with holiday displays, perfect for photos or relaxing after dinner.
Don’t miss:
The giant twinkling trees Light tunnels Holiday installations perfect for family pictures
Whether you’re walking with hot cocoa in hand or enjoying dinner nearby, this area feels straight out of a Christmas movie.

🚃 3. Take a Festive Ride on The Woodlands Trolley
The free Woodlands Trolley is a family favorite—especially in the winter months! It’s a fun, easy way to ride through the Waterway, Market Street, and Hughes Landing without worrying about parking.
Kids absolutely love the hop-on, hop-off experience, and adults enjoy the convenience. During the holidays, the trolley becomes its own mini-adventure as you glide past lights, shops, restaurants, and festive decorations.
⛸️ 4. Ice Skating at The Woodlands Ice Rink
Nothing says “holiday season” quite like ice skating! The Woodlands Ice Rink—located on Lake Robbins Drive—opens annually from November through January.
It’s the perfect spot for:
Family outings Birthday surprises Holiday date nights Burning off some kid energy
Beginners and pros alike have a blast, and skate rentals make it easy for everyone to jump in. If you’re building a Woodlands bucket list, this one is a must!
🎄 5. The Iconic 70-Foot Christmas Tree at Market Street
Market Street goes all out for the holidays, and its massive 70-foot Christmas tree is truly a showstopper.
Families gather here every year for photos, shopping, dining, and the magical moment when the tree lights up Market Street. With luxury shops, cozy restaurants, live music, and festive décor at every corner, it’s one of the most charming places in town this time of year.

Don’t forget:
Grab a warm drink at Sweet Paris or Starbucks Let the kids play in the green space Snap pictures under the giant tree Finish your holiday shopping while soaking in the atmosphere
It’s classic Woodlands Christmas!
